We used to drive down I-75 when we didn't have a pot to pee in and bring the kids to my Dad's to swim in the pool, for a few hot Georgia days. Others in the family would drop by and the sun tan oil was passed around, along with sweet tea, and toward evening the clear water reflected the Long Leaf Pines, and the charcoal smoke curled around me as I stood at the grill.
Now with thirty years behind us the pool lies quiet and green with potted water plants sprouting from the shallow end, and lilies move in the hot breeze from the overgrown hill.
