Ruth Franke, born in Braunschweig, lived in Emmendingen where she practised haiku, haibun and ikebana. Mafora Verlag, in 2002, published her book of haiku, Lapislazuli, while 2010 saw the release, via Wiesenburg Verlag, of a bilingual German-English edition of her haibun, Schwerelos gleiten – Slipping Through Water.
