Fished this morning from 6 to 9 and caught only small ones. We nap at mid-day, when the heat is 99 degrees. Later, we try again. I slip onto my hook a devil’s horse lure and get a fairly quick strike. But alas, nothing more.

Relaxing in a cove. Iron red ground; cows bawling. A few dozen yards from a near shore, a dead wind-toppled pine, amid the tangled vines and leaves, protruding ten feet or so into the lake shallows.
