Endings and Beginnings

Lost, a heart dear to me, and I ended the year enveloped in a fogginess, becoming of December.

We all reminisce. The winter sun shines as I recall through the fog those glorious days of college, the annual rain-dances, the storms and rainbows that had been part of our lives.

Mid January, Makara Sankranti festival. The sun has transmigrated to the Makara constellation and begins its journey northward, one called the Uttarayana. The season of kite flying also begins. I make pongal and sesame laddoos and feed the crows.
