The Scent of You

Things to do but in no hurry to do them. The wait for night and sleep to pass the hours. Only then does time move. Only then do I not feel the emptiness of this space, once a home of love and activity. A home of daily plans and working side by side. A time of ordinary lives with you in a torn straw hat digging in the garden. You turning pages in a book. You cheering as your team scores a touchdown. You in my every minute, every hour, every day.

wheels crunch to an empty house
with a lilac row
the car filled with laughter
and thoughts of being naughty
